Shrey's take

"The man in the background is attempting to leave the deserted planet through the portal. I found his silhouette from an apartheid poster. He is an apartheid protester and it's minorities like him who'd have to leave the planet first or who'd be affected by it the most. The portal is surrounded by the Midgard serpent, Jörmungandr, who encircled the planet, guarding it but eating his own tail, signifying the endless cycle we humans find ourselves in- that we're trapped by repeating histories mistakes. The rose is rotting due to the changes in climate. The train is a steam engine which is an ode to the industrial revolution which bolstered the changes in the climate. The man looking at the train is Toby Maguire from the movie Pleasantville before he's sucked in the tv into a B&W show. It signifies how we can be thrown back to the old days unintentionally."

My name's Shrey, I'm 19 and an applied physics major at Purdue University. I'm currently in my sophomore year. I've lived in Dubai all my life and I'm back here for the next few months before I leave for the states. Besides that, there's not much to know about me except what is already on my Instagram, @wheckses
